Sept 29th--5 more hours of driving and we finally enter "Big Bend National Park". It's the biggest and least visited of the National Parks. It's right on the border of Texas and Mexico. The Rio Grande is the border line. The photo on the right is still 25 miles from our campsite. The photo on the left is our campsite. We ran into only two other parties in park. The one couple gave us directions to "La Clocha". Our campsite was right overlooking the Rio Grande. We arrived right at sundown. We hurried and grabbed a light and walked down to the river. It was a pretty narrow part of the river--so we threw a couple rocks into Mexico and then headed back to our Element for an evening of red wine and star gazing. The past couple night we've been sleeping in the car seats-lounged back. It's kind of a pain to take everything out of the back and load it up in the 2 front seats--and then lay out the aero and blow it up. I talked Laura into doing the move --the air mattress is just more comfortable than the car seat. We get everything in order and i'm blowing up the mattress and then nothing. the f*&@#ing inverter thing just goes dead. So, my phrase for the day "that damn inverter". I actually had Laura talked into sleeping with the windows open-i wanted the back hatch open as well. 10 minutes into it--the bugs made me change my mind. Luckily--Big Bend is in the desert and finally in the middle of the night--the cool down acutally made us want to use the blanket.
Oh---by the way--did i totally jinx myself or what. On the 5 hour drive to Big Bend --Laura and I did some major fighting. It was the usual--I think she was driving either too fast or on someone's ass and she thought i was harping on her--blah blah blah.....
Laura's phrase: "Cool temps and "no- i don't like slim jims for the 12th time"
