Oct 5th~

We spent the afternoon walking around Durango. It's a pretty town. Elevation over 6000 ft--so even a little walk -i was breathing like I had a chest cold. Laura had to look up a chiropractor that went to school with a friend of hers. You can say that Dr. Joyce Thomsen was surprised to see her. By the way-- I sure am glad that we purchased our cowboy boots in Corpus Christi. They were more expensive here by more than 100 cash dollars!! We had a 5 hour drive ahead of us --to Page, AZ. Page is the closest down to Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam. It's a small town-but guess what---they have a WAl-mart! NOt a 24 hr one-but still a safe place for us to sleep. When in Page and filling up the ole gas tank we saw a newspaper and did NOT like the headline. (i'll try and include the photo). We drove around Page (it didn't take long) -the main loop had 10 churches right in a row--i've never seen anything like it. We called it "church row" and then found out later that the town calls it that too.

So happy--Laura and I have finally figured out a way to easily set up our "sleeping area"....prior- she liked to just fold down the front seats and sleep on them...i had more of an affinty for the air mattress. She didn't like having to move all the crap from the back into the 2 front seats. anyhow-you'll be happy to know that we now fold down the 2 front seats and blow up the mattress and put it on top of the seats. we work the "crap" into areas of the car and it's not a pain in the arse.
