Oct 6=
Sorry it's been so long-we haven't had internet access. I mean "free" internet access. Ok hmmm-what did we do on Oct 6th? Oh, I remember. Before leaving for Bryce Canyon, Utah we decided to take a look-see at Glen Canyon Dam. We thought it would be nice to take a pix of the scissors viewing the dam. I had the scissors in the front pocket of my jeans and a cup of java in hand and walked into the Dam visitor center. (tee-hee still makes me laugh "dam visitor center"--anyhow----i sure was glad that I had that cup of joe with me. They had a HUGE metal detector and 4 armed officers right when you enter. The female officer asked if I would kindly finish my coffee outside. Luckily---I could just see me trying to explain why i had that pair of scissors in my pocket. "well you see officer-we're taking photos of them going cross country for Laura's mother"....yeah right. Truthfully-I'm surprised i didn't just set that thing off just entering the doorway. We took a tour of the "dam" and afterwards I realized why security might be a little tight. Really I'm surprised that they allow tours at all. Not only could someone easily sabatoge 6 states water supply but they could also mess with their electricty supply as well. Ok now onto Utah! We arrived at Bryce Canyon right at sundown. Saw a beautiful sunset over the many "hoodoos"-that's whay they call them. I thought we could do this "easy hike" while the sun was setting. I threw on my hiking boots and we took off. Word of advice: "no matter how tempted you are to just take off and hike-it's best to prepare yourself." suchas: the proper socks and perhaps a flashlight. After a frantic "how do we get back" and "dam-my feet are killing me-why am i wearing these thin socks"...we finally got back up from the canyon. We spent the night in the Element and froze our butts off!! It got down to 25 degrees overnight.
